About Dr. Rumbaugh

While skilled in treating all types of neurological disorders and disease, Jeffrey Rumbaugh, MD, PhD, a highly experienced neurologist at Pathway Neurology in Tampa, Florida, was fellowship trained in multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmunological and neuro-infectious conditions at Johns Hopkins, and was subsequently on faculty in this area at both Johns Hopkins and Emory Universities.

Dr. Rumbaugh believes in the biopsychosocial model of medicine. This means that when he looks at a patient, he sees more than a disease process, he sees a whole person. He understands that to care for a person, you must care about the emotional and social impacts of the disease, as well as the biological aspects.

Dr. Rumbaugh received his medical degree from the University of Rochester and also earned his PhD in biochemistry at the same university, before completing his internship in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Rumbaugh received his neurology residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. Later, he became an Assistant Professor of Neurology at both Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. While on faculty at both those hospitals, he was part of the neuroimmunology division, and specialized in caring for patients with multiple sclerosis and neurological infections, and also did basic science research and published extensively on those topics. He spent time working as a neurohospitalist and as a general neurologist in Fairfax, Virginia, and Lakeland and Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Rumbaugh is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Neurological Association and the American Academy of Neurology.

At Pathway Neurology, Dr. Rumbaugh makes himself available after regular hours and will, under certain conditions, make house calls for patients in need. For in-office visits, Dr. Rumbaugh works to provide personal attention during every visit to ensure the health and wellness of every patient.
